A snow day!

Well our day startedout great.. NO SCHOOL! Finally a snow day. My son was so happy. So this is how we spent our snow day.. and we have another one tomorrow.. We are getting more snow, and ice.. fun.. Let' hope the power does not go off, like they say it might....
Just because a girl has to have PINK snow boots!

This is what my sister in law did walking by my van, in like two seconds.. she is an artist and I thought this was cool!.

Here is Carly making a secret pile of snowballs for her brother..
And can you think of anything else better to do on a snow day, than take a nap with daddy!
And look at Jake, shoveling the driveway for his parents... and the neighbors. what a great kid!

This is what my brother in law wrote on the car, he can't draw, but a sweet a note to the kids! They think uncle Mark rocks!

what a great way to spend a snow day.. But I can honestly say, I never got to spend one like this.

And my two girls.. who pose every time I get the camera out.. BEAUTIFUL Girls!

What have I been doing?

I have had a few people ask me what I have been doing lately.. well I have been sewing to stock my site, so I can re-open it. Here are a few things I am working on.
This is a cute little wallet. No it is not the same size as a large wallet, but it is big enough to hould your divers license, your credit cards and some cash and some receipt too.. You can find it fast in your purse and if you don't want to take your whole wallet, this can be a mini wallet.

This is my wristlet key chain.. my mom was kind enough to lend me her arm :) If you are a person who is always looking for your keys in your purse, or a gal who has a baby in one arm, a ton of bags in the other arm, and you get to your car and realize you have to now "dig" out your keys. and you can't find them.. then this will solve that problem. My wristlet key chain is easy to use and you will never again loose your keys!
These will come a ton of differnt colors and styles.

This is a wristlet bag.. What is that you ask? Well if you are like me and hate carrying your purse, but know you have to, because you are can't possibly fit it all in your pants pockets and look normal.. then this little bag is for you. It fits on your wrist while you are shopping and no more falling purses off your shoulder 100 times while in the store. I also am making them with the front pockets being all "green" . Meaning I will be re-using things I was going to throw out.. take the pockets off pants, coats, jackets and use them on the bag. I will be offering a ton of these in great colors too.
So that is what I have been up too lately.. and I am making purses/totes and a ton more things.. and I will to give you a sneek preview here and let you know when my site will be opening.. Tell me what you think. I would love to hear your comments.
Have a great day!

My Humble Abode

OK, so there was not much going on today , so I thought I would share some photos of my home, and my favorite things. I found this lamp at a garage sale this past summer for $8.00 and I fell in love with it.

I also have a weakness for old quilts.. I love the ones that you can tell they used what they had to make it.. those are my favorite.. and this yoyo quilt too.. Who does not like yo yos?

This poster is of my husband when he was 6 years old. I found in a closet recently and framed it.. I love it!

More silver... this time it is teapots, and of coarse I can never pass up a good window, with black and white photos of the kids!

My Favorite vintage eye glasses!
I love these old silver boxes!

This was the best $5.00 mirror I found at a Thrift shop!

My favorite pink bookcase, and the kids game holder.

My favorite jars filled with vintage rhinestone jewelery! A girl can not have enough jewels!

My favorite clock I got at Home Goods, love that store.

My Mantle..

My house is not huge at all, and this my family room.. small but comfy and very kid and pet friendly!

Yes, my biggest weakness is mirrors.. I love them and have a hard time passing them up!

Also, just wanted to add that most of my goodies I have decorated with are Thrift Store finds. .and a fwe are from antique shows.. It's all about going green.. so think twice before you throw it out.. maybe just a coat of paint will make it all "new" again.

Oh, and by the way, yes my fire place has the "yuckies" I hate the brass insert.. so that is either being painted or I want to find a new one.. Anyway my style is comfy "green" chic, with a little bit of french flair!

Kids Art

Well it has been a few days, since I have been on here. I have been super busy with the kids and trying to get some sewing done, for my website. I also wanted to share some of the artwork the kids have done over the years. There is just something so precious about kids artwork. I can't explain it, but even as I walk the halls at school, I get so excited to see all the artwork hanging the hallways. When my son started in pre-school, his pre-school teacher would host a spring art show. She would take artwork from the whole year, and pick the best and have them matted and hang them in a real art gallery, that we would get to go and see. How adorable.. I framed a few and gave a few as gifts.. I'm sure you all have artwork of your kids around the house or in the closets or drawers.. Get them out, put them on the closet doors, or anywhere you need some pops of color.. We have several "art gallery" doors in our home..I thought I would share them with you. Enjoy! I almost forgot to add, you know it is cold when you find your dog laying in the bed all covered up,. what a life he leads!

Is it me?

Well this morning started out really great.. the girls got up with little trouble, which is HUGE in this house.

My husband had taken my van to his shop to be worked on by his friend. The heater is out.. and that is not a good thing in Cincinnati, escipally when by Friday we are suppose to be in negative numbers, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. So I was excited to actually drive a car that had heat, and not have to take a lap quilt to throw over my legs, and actually warm my car and when I got to it, have it be WARM in the car.. well I started the car, and turned on the heat.. and about 15 minutes later came out to get in and low and behold something ws not right, the doors would not unlock.. so I had to use my hands.. and then as I was driving, I thought, man it is cold in here, !!! and then as I was turning onto a very busy street, the whole car just died, right in the middle of the road!.. Now the girls are freaking.. and I am in the car, asking the ceiling, "are you kidding me?" I get out the car realzing that no one can see around this huge car, and I had to now direct traffic and try to figure out how to get my girls to school, and oh, yeah, how to get my car out of the middle of the road.. and let's not forget the most important.. I was in my pj pants, t-shirt, and an old ratty sweatshirt, and my slipper! And I realize this, as I am sending cars around me, and wondering why people are starring at me so strang.. have they not seen a stopped car before? Well I had about three or four dads drive by me, and wave.. what is that? All the moms stopped and asked if they could help, and comment on my outfit, lol... Well finally one dad did stop and he was actually one of my husbands best friends and he pushed my car to the side of the road and sat with me in his car, with heat! till my husband got there to drive me home. The car is now fixed.. an alternateor was the problem..

So what is the lesson learned in this you ask? Sure you are all saying, put on some CLOHTES before you leave the house, even if you are not getting out of the car, but come on... we all know that we do that for a while and then all of a sudden, we are like, who cares, I am not getting out fo the car, and trust me that is the one time that you have to get out of the car....

So make sure your pj's and slippers match.. and don't forget to at least brush your hair and teeth!

Mrs. Hyatt, do you have your daughter?

Today started out a little on the crazy side in my house, as usual. First of all my husband was home for the second day in a row, which meant I got to sleep in a little and he got the kids up and dressed for school. Anyway my youngest daughtger, Macy had a bad night with sleeping and asthama related things, so she was up a lot last night.. last time she tapped me on the shoulder to wake me and tell me that "she" was still awake was 3:45 a.m. Well my husband gets up at 4:15 and when he got up she was still up.. So needless to say, she was not in the best of moods.. So that child needed to stay home and sleep a little while..just the fact that we were walking in the room where she was laying down and "breathing" was upsetting her to no end.. So back to bed she went, complaing the whole way that she was NOT tired and 5 minutes later she was snoring!!! Well Carly got ready for school and my husband took her and dropped her off. Meanwhile I called the school to let them know she would be in but later in the day... So I went on with my morning getting things done and making a list a mile long of things I need to do. Macy finally got up, had some "brunch" she thought that was a "funny" word, because it was lunch and brunch together, lol.. anyway I was just getting her shoes on her and the phone rang.. It was the school... The secretary wanted to know if by chance I had Macy with me. I told her I did and she apologized and said she was not on the list.. well my memory these days has not been very good at all! So I told her I had called her in but somehow she did not make it onto the list.. But it all ended well, when I told her I did have her and I was bringing her in.. When we finally got to school they were still saying sorry about it, and I thought it was funny.. Now they were not to upset, because I know the office gals well and the basically run that school, and know everything about all the kids.. and I told them not to feel to bad, and to remember that on the last morning of Christmas break.. I was the mom who got up and drove 45 minutes away to a doctor appointment for Macy and then could not remember the address, so I had to call Paul and have him look it up for me, and then he told me I had the wrong child at the wrong doctor.. Now you talk about crazy, that is crazy.. they got a good laugh out that one that day.. I had way too much going on in my head and on paper to keep it all straight.. But again, it all worked out and Thank Goodness the doctor I was suppose to be at, got a good chuckle out of that mix up and was fine with me making another appointment.. Boy, how embrassing! We finally get home from school, my husband and I are sitting on the sofa talking about our day and then my oldest daughter, Calry is making Easy Mac in the microwave, but forgot to put the water in the container, so it melted in the microwave and I had so much smoke in my kitchen, I had to open all the doors and windows, mind you it is cold here in Cincinnati, so that was terrible.. but the smell seems to be going away I hope.. so in short I am going to bed early tonight in hopes that a great LONG night sleep will help me think more clearly and have a good day tomorrow... Thanks for listening.. Have a great night and a fun tomorrow! Mechelle

Cozy Chair

The other day I was out shopping out alone, getting a break from being home and I went into a local shop around here that I venture into from time to time. I was looking around and came across this painting of this chair.. I was immediately drawn to it for some reason. I don't know if it was because it looked like a comfortable chair to sit in, or if it was somewhere I wish I had in my own house to curl up into and maybe read a book, look another sewing and decorating magazine! Anyway I had to buy it and I have it hanging it in my hallway.. It makes me feel calm when I look at it for some reason. I picture myself sitting there and things are all quiet, someday I will have a corner and a chair like that in my "real" house, not just the one I have decorated in my mind :)

Take care,

Mechelle

Pimping my blog

OK, I have been blog reading for sometime now, and I have found a few that I just LOVE.. As I am new to this, bare with me as I am trying to "pimp my blog" I found a great website that offers great backgrounds and easy directions. The site is: www.thecutestblogontheblock.com Great site, check them out.
But for me right now, I am trying to figure out how to get the header straight and even on the page.. I also want to learn how to do the side bars and how to list all my favorite blogs that I have come to read daily! I have to admit that when I first started out on this, I really did not understand it, the whole blogging thing.. Now it has become my new past time and I am so surprised how much I have learned and how many nice people are out there willing to help you with a sewing project or anything!
Yeah, I think I will keep this blogging thing up and hopefully figure out how to make my blog as nice as some of the other ones I read.. and hopefully someone will read this and appreciate the work, lol...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I can't beieve it is 2009. It seems this past year has went by so fast. I wanted to share some Christmas pictures with you too. I hope you all had a great Christmas. We did and it was so fun to see the kids on Christmas morning and see what Santa brought them. I'm sure Santa had to be tired, that is a lot of work :) I have sorta taken the week off and just relaxed with the kids and am really enjoying the new toys and the games they got this year.. WOW I can see why at times they like to hang out in front of the TV, as I would of done the same thing at that age, these toys now a days are really cool!
